A workshop without instructor, a play without actors… The automatic workshop sets the task to cross social boundaries and leave our individual comfort zone. A group of up to twelve participants work together in a room – drawing up ideas and plans – and then take them to the streets. Doing The THING is about daring to enact another possible version of oneself or, in the words of anarchist David Graeber, "acting as if one is already free". The workshop consists of four parts which build on each other.

Every episode is about 3 - 5 hours. Registration needed three days before: info [at] wunderderpraerie.de.

Christophe Meierhans (CH) and Ant Hampton (GB) share an interest in the friction between the animated and the automated as well as in art which is taking risks. The THING is the most recent work in a row of so called Autoteatro productions that Ant Hampton is realizing since many years. Autoteatro explores forms of performance where the audience members are actively involved in making the piece happen.
