Dieter Mersch studied mathematics and philosophy in Cologne and Bochum. He is freelance-author for different radio channels of the ARD. Since 2004 he has held the chair of the department of media studies at the University of Potsdam. Since 2006 he is director of the Institute for Arts and Media at the same university.
